In today's society a man that isn't unfaithful to his wife is laughed at by his co-workers. A 23 year old woman that is still a virgin is ridiculed by her friends. People that don't tell white lies, even seemingly innocent ones, are thought of as dumb or inferior.
We have faith in a pilot we've never met to fly us safely to our destination. But, don't believe when someone tells us there are angels all around us willing to guard and serve us, if we ask.
We trust the chef, whom we do not even see, not to poison us. But, show disbelief when told that Jesus is the bread of life.
A couple that has been happily married for more than 20 years is such a rarity, it's almost unheard of. The 'single-mom' and 'deadbeat-dad' are so commonplace, we don't think of these stereotypes as strange. These things should not be.
Child-support. Welfare. TANF. WIC. Unemployment Insurance. All are temporary solutions to temporary problems. The Lord is willing to heal all wounds if only we give up, give in, and let Him take care.
We make the choice, God has the power.
"And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
Choose for yourselves this day. It is not uncommon for us to forget that we have free will. God does not want robots, he wants individuals that love Him with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind. Not only when the chips are down, and we need occasional help. We should trust in Him in good times and in bad. No matter how hard it may seem.
